Owatrol Deks Olje D1 is a high-performance saturating oil that penetrates deep into the wood to replace lost natural oils. Unlike traditional coatings, it does not form a surface film, allowing the wood to breathe while preventing peeling, flaking, or cracking. This makes it a reliable long-term solution for preserving timber in demanding conditions.

Formulated for use on both hardwoods and softwoods, it is especially effective on dense or oily species such as teak. It enhances the natural grain while leaving a clear matt finish, making it ideal for maintaining the authentic appearance of wood.

Suitable for use on vertical and horizontal surfaces, Owatrol Deks Olje D1 performs exceptionally well in marine environments and can be used above and below the waterline. It is commonly used for boats, decking, cladding, and outdoor furniture, as well as interior joinery.

Surface preparation and application

Apply to bare or properly prepared wood for best results. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from grease, dirt, and previous coatings.

New wood should be sanded with 100 grit paper or treated with Aquanett followed by Net-Trol
Weathered wood should be cleaned and restored with Net-Trol
Existing finishes must be removed using Aquanett or Dilunett, then neutralised with Net-Trol

Apply the oil wet-on-wet using a brush or roller, ensuring the surface remains saturated. Continue applying until the wood no longer absorbs the product. Remove any excess using a cloth dampened with D1. Allow approximately three days to cure before use or before applying a finishing coat such as Deks Olje D2.

Maintenance and reapplication

To maintain protection and appearance, clean the surface with Net-Trol and reapply when the wood begins to lose colour or turn grey. In most cases, one or two coats will restore the finish and protection.

Additional guidance

Do not allow the product to dry between coats during the initial application
Only apply to bare wood or surfaces previously treated with D1
Avoid use on thermo-treated wood or untreated plywood
Apply in temperatures between 5°C and 35°C and avoid direct sunlight or hot surfaces
Dispose of oil-soaked cloths safely, as they may self-ignite
